- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 teaspoon fresh grated ginger
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 tablespoon neutral oil (for cooking)
For the Slaw
- 2 cups shredded green cabbage
- ½ cup shredded carrots
- 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- Pinch of salt
For the Sauce
- ¼ cup sweet chili sauce
- 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
- 1 teaspoon fresh lime juice
For the Shells
- 12 wonton wrappers
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Marinate the Chicken: In a bowl, mix soy sauce, hoisin, sesame oil, rice vinegar, honey, ginger, and garlic. Add diced chicken and toss to coat evenly. Let marinate for at least 20 minutes.
- Prepare the Wonton Shells: Heat oil to 350°F in a deep skillet. Using tongs, gently fold each wonton wrapper in half and fry for 30–60 seconds until golden and crisp. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Cook the Chicken: Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add marinated chicken and cook for 5–7 minutes until fully cooked and the sauce reduces into a glossy glaze.
- Make the Slaw: In a bowl, combine cabbage, carrots, cilantro, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and salt. Toss lightly to keep it crisp.
- Prepare the Sauce: Whisk together sweet chili sauce, mayonnaise, and lime juice until smooth.
- Assemble the Tacos: Spoon warm chicken into crispy shells, top with slaw, and drizzle with sauce. Serve immediately.
Notes
- Dice chicken finely for authentic texture.
