Description

A delicious holiday treat made with saltine crackers, caramel, and chocolate, perfect for sharing.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sleeve (about 40) saltine crackers
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ½ cup chopped pecans, sprinkles, or festive toppings (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with foil or parchment paper and lightly coat it with nonstick spray.
  2. Arrange the saltine crackers in a single layer to cover the baking sheet completely.
  3. In a saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar over medium heat. Bring it to a boil and cook for 3 minutes while stirring constantly until thickened.
  4. Pour the hot caramel mixture evenly over the crackers, using a spatula to spread it out.
  5. Bake for about 5 minutes, until the caramel is bubbling.
  6. Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle the chocolate chips over the hot caramel. Let it sit for 2-3 minutes to soften, then spread the chocolate into an even layer.
  7. If desired, top with nuts, sprinkles, or other decorations while the chocolate is still warm.
  8. Let it cool completely and then refrigerate for 1-2 hours until set.
  9. Once set, break into pieces and serve!

Notes

Make sure to line your baking sheet well to prevent sticking. Feel free to experiment with different toppings or chocolates for a fun twist!
