Description
A delicious holiday treat made with saltine crackers, caramel, and chocolate, perfect for sharing.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 sleeve (about 40) saltine crackers
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- ½ cup chopped pecans, sprinkles, or festive toppings (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with foil or parchment paper and lightly coat it with nonstick spray.
- Arrange the saltine crackers in a single layer to cover the baking sheet completely.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar over medium heat. Bring it to a boil and cook for 3 minutes while stirring constantly until thickened.
- Pour the hot caramel mixture evenly over the crackers, using a spatula to spread it out.
- Bake for about 5 minutes, until the caramel is bubbling.
- Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle the chocolate chips over the hot caramel. Let it sit for 2-3 minutes to soften, then spread the chocolate into an even layer.
- If desired, top with nuts, sprinkles, or other decorations while the chocolate is still warm.
- Let it cool completely and then refrigerate for 1-2 hours until set.
- Once set, break into pieces and serve!
Notes
Make sure to line your baking sheet well to prevent sticking. Feel free to experiment with different toppings or chocolates for a fun twist!
