Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups bow tie pasta
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Fresh basil, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add chopped onion and minced garlic, sauté until the onion is translucent.
  3. Stir in crushed tomatoes, beef broth, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil.
  4. Add bow tie pasta and reduce heat. Simmer until pasta is tender.
  5. Stir in ricotta cheese until well mixed.
  6. Serve hot, sprinkling with shredded mozzarella and fresh basil on top.

Notes

For extra flavor, add chopped bell peppers or mushrooms when cooking the onions and garlic. For a creamier soup, stir in heavy cream or more ricotta before serving.
